Johnson Controls India is making a significant impact on the lives of children in India through its partnership with CRY (Child Rights and You). The company has committed to sponsoring the education of children in India to ensure that 100% completion is achieved, regardless of gender, caste, or socio-economic status.
Johnson Controls India has made a contribution of approximately USD 49,000 across 7 locations in India, including the Jawahar Nagar Slum area of Hyderabad, Tigeri, Nagaloi, Shahadbad Dairy of Delhi, and the villages of Meoka, Baskoshla, and Gairatpurbas of Gurgaon. These funds will support the development of CRY's Child & Adolescent Resource Centers (CARC) which will provide remedial education to children who are out of school, never-been-to-school, or dropped-out children, providing them with skills and knowledge for a better future.
Johnson Controls India has not only shown its commitment to improving the lives of children through its partnership with CRY, but it has also taken steps to empower women through education. The company has announced a contribution of approximately USD 55,555 to the Lila Poonawalla Foundation for a period of 4 years. This contribution will sponsor the education of women from economically weaker sections of society who are pursuing a degree in engineering.
As part of JCI India's CSR initiative #jcicares, events were hosted for rural girl students from CRY and sponsored students from the Lila Poonawalla Foundation. On January 23rd, 2023, children from CRY were invited to the JCI engineering workplace and labs, where they interacted with JCI leaders, displayed their talents through performing arts, and shared their wishes through a “Wall of Wishes”. Employees participated with voluntary contributions to fulfill the girls’ expectations. The following day on 24th January, sponsored women students from the Lila Poonawalla Foundation visited the JCI Pune center for a preview of the company.
‘This partnership is an important step towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all children by 2030. By providing support to the CARC centers and the education of these young minds, Johnson Controls India, CRY and LPF are working to break the cycle of poverty and provide children with the opportunity to succeed.’ said Vijay Sankaran, CTO, Johnson Controls.
