“A seed planted today, grows its branches tomorrow”, we do believe that we must give back more than what we take from Mother Nature.
Johnson Controls India sponsored the Miyawaki ‘Adopt a Tree Program’ at Channahalli, Devanahalli Taluk, Bangalore under the CSR initiative with Happy World Foundation.
Miyawaki is a Japanese method of afforestation where saplings are planted close to each other so that they compete with each other for space and access to light and water—a battle that encourages much faster growth. In the Miyawaki method, trees grow about 10 times faster and 30 times denser than the conventional method. 140 volunteers from JCI, supported by their family members participated with teeming enthusiasm at the tree plantation event and planted around 600 saplings in the grounds of the Government Higher Primary School. The energy was high and infectious.
14 varieties of local species, in combination of tall, medium and short trees such as Tabebuia, Indian Beech, Mahogany, Lagerstroemia speciosa, Tragacanth, Silver, Tamarind, Black Plum, Jackfruit, Teak, Melia Dubia, Gauva and Tecoma were planted to add one more mini forest to the earth. With every sapling we plant, we are gifting a new life to Mother Nature, a life that will one day grow to contribute to our ecosystem in the most positive way.
The volunteers left with a great sense of fulfilment and await the next event with Happy World Foundation who deeply appreciated the social engagement by Johnson Controls India. Looking forward to a larger participation in future CSR events.
